John Henry - Sculpture

John Henry - Sculpture

Introduction by David Levy
Essay by Stephen Lueking

John Henry's career began more than thirty years ago in Chicago as a painter of large, bold, non-objective canvases, however, his desire to expand the creative process in a direct and immediate manner led him to sculpture. Over time, he began assembling metals into precise constructions that have an industrial precision and a sense of the engineered object that is recognizably his own. This comprehensive book covers four decades of Henry's work, enhanced by detailed photographs by renowned photographer of sculpture, David Finn.

Mr. Henry attended the University of Kentucky, University of Chicago and the Art Institute of Chicago. He has taught sculpture at the University of lowa, University of Wisconsin, University of Chicago and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and has also lectured extensively on the role of art in public places. He is currently Curator of the Outdoor Museum of Art, Chattanooga State College, Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he resides with his family.
