The Glorious Mushroom

The Glorious Mushroom

Text and Photographs by Frank Spinelli

An astounding photographic view of the mushroom in its natural environment, the specimens included in the book were photographed within three square miles of the author's home in the Catskill Mountains in 2003 and 2004. In addition to the images, the text identifies species and includes information on botany, history, edibility, and the naturalist's experience. The central idea is to raise the reader's awareness of the natural beauty and fascinating qualities of the mushroom and to dispel and illuminate certain myths and fallacies surrounding mushroom culture.

Frank Spinelli has been a professional photographer for more than thirty years and is currently a member of the New York, Connecticut and Mid-Hudson Valley mycological societies.
